SNFCC Class
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) seeks to actively participate in school life and is always looking for new ways to inspire and engage with students and teachers. Thus, the SNFCC Class was created; an educational platform that enables teachers to select integrated school curricula in digital form and implement them in their own classroom.
All of our school programs are specially designed to complement the curriculum of each level of primary and secondary education, enriching the teaching process in a way that’s both educational and entertaining.
With a focus on flexibility, SNFCC Class allows teachers to enroll in their chosen course. The enrollment in each course is valid for a period of 6 months, so that teachers have the time to study its content and implement it in their own classroom, according to their schedule. At the end of 6 months, teachers can re-enroll in the course any time they wish.
After the completion of each school program, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. -
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS
Gender INequalities
Are there gender inequalities today and, if so, how do they affect our lives?
An educational program that gives students the opportunity to understand that the issue of gender equality is a human right, in order to reflect on the consequences that gender stereotypes have on the lives of all of us, but also to be inspired by the women who fought against the obstacles.
Through games, examples and ideas for discussion, the course aims to be a classroom tool that will help raise awareness to eliminate gender-based violence and enhance inclusion.
Humanae - Complete the diversity jigsaw
Inspired by the Humanae exhibition at SNFCC
You + Me = Us = Humans. Students investigate the puzzle of humanity by associating diversity with equality. Drawing inspiration from the photography exhibition Humanae by artist Angélica Dass, displayed along the SNFCC Canal in 2021, students will follow an interactive route to develop their own perspective on human skin tones.
The course is not an exhaustive presentation of the topic; more of a stimulus for students to examine the issue of diversity through key points, as well as a springboard for sharing their thoughts and experiences.
Takis: Cosmos in Motion
Inspired by an SNFCC exhibition
Takis used to say that “energy is within us!”
What do you think he meant by it?
Discover the artist who tried to make the invisible visible, and ask yourselves what these mysterious forces that move things around us might be, although we cannot see them with the naked eye.
Why should the city look like a giant “Forest of Signals”?
What does the Beaufort scale have to do with Takis’s Aeolian sculptures?
How can a screw be suspended in vacuum?
Our young heroine, Galatea, has some of the same questions.
Will she be able to find the answers she is looking for?
TIME CAPSULE FOR HEROES
In modern Greek art
For students from Grades 3-8
Time capsules carry stories from the past that are worth remembering into the future. The tales of our heroes, for example.
This course explores the meaning of HERO, yesterday and today, through the multifaceted prism of Art. Starting with some of the most representative works of Greek art, over a period of about 200 years, students are asked to identify heroes in works of art from different periods, in order to ultimately decide what defines a hero.
THE CLIMATE IS CHANGING
For junior high school students
With the help of experiments, research and meteorological stations, students discover the consequences of the greenhouse effect, how man has impacted the global and local climate and how the use of renewable energy sources has evolved.
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the concept of climate change and the principles of bioclimatic planning as they are applied at the SNFCC.
SUSTAINABLE PLANET
For students in Grades 3-6
What impact does the modern way of life have on the environment? How can I change my daily habits to make them more environmentally-friendly? How has the SNFCC applied modern design methods to become a model hub of environmental sustainability?
During the program, students are invited to discover the answers to the above questions and learn about the correct way to recycle.
ΤHE STAVROS NIARCHOS PARK TRAVELS
For first-grade to third-grade students
The Stavros Niarchos Park just landed in your classroom!
Are you ready to explore it?
What are the parts of a plant? Who are the plant’s friends and enemies? What does a gardener do? What kind of vegetables can we find in a Vegetable Garden each season? What is a Mediterranean Garden in an urban park and how can we plant one for ourselves?
Little Gardeners, Landscape Architects, Naturalists and Researchers are invited to participate to an online "promenade" in the Stavros Niarchos Park while, through research games, study, riddles, video and quizzes, they discover the answers!
A CITY, AN ECOSYSTEM!
For third-grade Ηighschool students and senior Ηighschool students
The School Program becomes a fast-track design workshop and invites students to try a miltidimensional way of thinking and problem-solving, while developing their own innovative ideas about sustainability and urban ecosystems.
Students take the role of a city entity, deciding which problem to take on, contacting different groups of users and designing products and services for a sustainable city that takes into consideration the needs of its citizens.
